From Peak District

  • Night time at Aachen West. 2820 will be the next engine out after a train arrives from Germany.
  • Composite of three night shots taken in Herzogenrath.

  • As we approach midsummer, the sun sets far enough north for the sunset to light up the skies behind the Moresnet Viaduct. An eastbound tank car train is led by one of the now-ubiquitous class 28 electrics.
  • A freight train derailed several tank cars at tower 16 in Montzen yard on 10-Jul-2008. By dusk the hazmat cargo had been transloaded and rerailing operations were under way.
  • 2807 leads the westbound 44538 (Gremberg/D - Antwerpen-Noord) under a full moon past Block 16.
  • In fall 2010 1810 was running TBL1+ tests between Liege and Brussels on several weekends. Here the unit is seen parked with protection power 1337 and their train in Welkenraedt to await Sunday's activities in 5 degrees, a good northwesterly wind, and driving rain.

  • CFL 3017 + 3018 on the 48871 (Born/NL - Bettembourg-Marchandises/L) in Vise-Bas. This is a coal flow being run in conjunction with Captrain. One of their 66s shuttles the traffic between Born and Vise-Bas where CFL takes over for the nocturnal part of the trip via Gouvy. In this view 3017 and 3018 have tied onto the loads after dropping the empties under Vise's floodlights and are ready to pull south.
