  • The class 120s were the first three-phase AC electrics in Germany, coming into service in the 1980s. A number of them are still running in intercity service after 20 years. What used to be a very progressive exterior has since "evolved" into almost a classic. Well, the perception of it has evolved, anyway...
  • Giving testament to the plethora of private carriers running on open-access inrastructure, this TX Logistik engine powers an Austrian-bound intermodal through München Ost.
  • An Integral DMU operated by the "Bayrische Oberland Bahn", a private carrier, meets a DB-owned class 423 EMU. The latter are standard issue on most Munich-area rapid transit lines.
  • A russian-buit class 233 "Ludmilla" roars past the passenger platforms at the Heimeranplatz with her eastbound mixed freight.
  • Fans and resistors do their best to dissipate energy as this class 111 exerts maximum braking effort to slow her train for a stop at München Ost.
  • A number of non-electrified lines remain around Munich. This train is sandwiched between two class 218 diesel-hydraulics as it approaches Pasing inbound.

  • The Siemens Taurus comes in many flavors, including Railion/DB Schenker's red version, called class 182. These engines are used both in freight as well as intercity passenger service and are a common sight in southern Germany. They are certified to operate into Austria.
