Pictures from the Niesky area on the KBS 229. This is an east-west line with a good deal of transit traffic to and from southern Poland. In summer 2010 the line was still operated by manual block and had semaphores almost throughout.

ODEG VT 650.064 forming OE64 to Goerlitz arrives at Niesky. The timeless arrangement of water tower, railroad workers house, and interlocking tower dates from the second half of the 19th century. The crossing gates are still operated manually from the tower.
