pointduvue > RTB/TSP MRCE 653-05 with the empty ore train 48510 (Stolberg/D - Lillo) in Botzelaar.
pointduvue > 1346 with IC Maastricht/NL - Ostende passes Hermalle-sous-Argenteau. This is probably the most scenic location on the L40, the Meuse valley line. The ICs run in push-pull configuration with a cab control car on the north end and (luckily) the engine on the south end.
pointduvue > In a classic scene from the year 2005, electric 2022 brings an eastbound container train into Montzen Yard while 2017 stands ready to depart with a westbound. Closing in on 30 years in service, the class 20s were the most modern electrics to routinely run into Montzen until the end.
pointduvue > 1349 with Oostende-bound IC-A descends into the valley of the river Vesdre near Heggen.
pointduvue > AM70 659 passes underneath the Rue Lancaumont as it leaves Welkenraedt bound for Liege.
pointduvue > As we approach midsummer, the sun sets far enough north for the sunset to light up the skies behind the Moresnet Viaduct. An eastbound tank car train is led by one of the now-ubiquitous class 28 electrics.
pointduvue > The newest and last Traxx, 2843, leads train 44532 (Gremberg/D - Antwerpen-Noord) between Botzelaar and Montzen approaching the Rue d'Aix overpass. The forest was seriously cut back to make room for the electrification work here in 2008, but nature is regaining lost ground fast.
pointduvue > This is the original 1841 alignment of the first international railway line linking Germany and Belgium, and one of the first major railways built in Europe. Speaking of Europe, shown is a Dutch Hispeed-owned, German-built ICE3M, on its way from France to Germany, photographed in Belgium. The train is eastbound en route from Paris/F Gare du Nord to Frankfurt/D and the location is near Goffontaine in the Vesdre Valley. The ICEs starting using the parallel new LGV3 highspeed route between Aachen/D and Liege a few months later, in June 2009.
pointduvue > 2830 has sister 2832 in tow ahead of the empty limestone train 48566 (Oberhausen/D - Hermalle) at Hindel. In the first half of 2009 these trains were the last scheduled assignments for class 77 diesels on the L24.
