pointduvue > 5531 with the Ford train 46511 (Genk-Zuid-Ford - Carimate) exiting the Gulptunnel in Hindel. The following weekend a new schedule went into effect, ending class 55 assignments on the L24 for the most part.
pointduvue > 5531 works the coil transload facility at Quay de Renory in Ougree, near Liege. Some of the Chertal steel mill's output is transferred to ships here for the onward journey. This job usually works in the late afternoon and is assigned whatever power is available in Kinkempois.
pointduvue > 2025 brings an Ambrogio intermodal train east out of the setting sun at Remersdaal.
pointduvue > French Astride 36019 brings a Wembley/UK-bound freight through Flemalle Haute. The Astrides (Asynchrone Tritension) are a common sight in French-Belgian service. In the distance the train can be seen swinging off the freight line L125A from Kinkempois.
pointduvue > DLC DE 6303 powers a PET-train formed of empty EVS hoppers through Nouvelaar. The train has crossed over from track 'A' to track 'B' at Botzelaar, in the distance.
pointduvue > During 2007 Rail4Chem ran several trains per week carrying kaolin slurry between Antwerp and a paper mill at Rotkreuz/CH. Here PB02 has the honor, passing the old block station in Botzelaar. This was one of only a handful of R4C trains actually powered by their own locomotives within Belgium, and used to be a surefire Friday-after-work catch.
pointduvue > 241 805 brings a freight westbound out of the tunnel at Gemmenich. The tower up top sits at the point where the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany adjoin. The train has crossed from Germany into Belgium while inside the tunnel. The dirt road at left is part of the old original 1870 alignment of the railway line between Aachen/D and Welkenraedt via Plombieres.
pointduvue > Liege is your archetypal steel town. Dams, bridges, canals, railroads, and steel products being hauled through it all. A class 77 leaves the Arcelor-Mittal steel mill at Chertal in the stillness of the early morning, bringing another load of coils to the large classification yard of Kinkempois.
pointduvue > In early 2009 55s continued to ply the rails. 5505 and a sister have just exited the Gulp Tunnel and are running through Hindel with the FE 44563 (Kinkempois - Gremberg/D). This train usually has a class 28 electric for power.
